About Barban

Barban is between Pula and Labin. Pula has the nearest airport and is only 20 minutes drive away. Click here to see a map of the area.

The properites are on an enchanting Adriatic peninsula called Istria, situated in the heart of Croatia.

The Geography

The coastal area boasts many tourist centres such as Porec, Rovinj, Pula, Labin & Rabac.

Istria is nicknamed “Tuscany on Sea”, as the landscape goes from delightful wooded hills and valleys with fortified towns to fabulous seaside beaches and architectural towns of great beauty that used to be part of the Venetian Republic.

Due to the particular position of the village, we enjoy the benefits of both continental and littoral aspects of the peninsula. We are surrounded by beautiful meadows and forests, while the sea is 20-30 minutes away.

Getting Around

If you wish to rent a car in one of the airports outside Croatia, we strongly recommend Eurpocar for their prompt handling of insurance contracts for cars crossing the borders of the European Union.

You can also rent a car in Pula. If you do this through the website the car will wait for you at the Pula airport. RyanAir also flies from London Gatwick to Venice “Marko Polo”.

Food & Wine

In Barban we produce our own first class wine called Malvazija & Teran. Organic fruit and vegetable are in abundance. In the village you can find two coffee shops, bar - restaurant, bank and supermarkets. There is a market one day a week where locals sell their fresh cheese, vegetable and other products.

And in September - if you are here - you can join us for the grape picking.

Restaurants are mostly exceptionally good and very affordable. A three course meal for two people costs £10 to £15. Beer costs 70p and a cup of coffee will set you back just 40p.
